Firefighting Equipment

One (1) 10BC fire extinguisher at all of the following locations:

  • at each access to any space where a fuel-burning cooking, heating or refrigerating appliance is fitted;
  • at the entrance to any accommodation space; and
  • at the entrance to the machinery space.

It is also very important to have a 2.5lb ABC or 5lb ABC fire extinguisher in your car at all time just in case a fire occurs.

But if a fire does occurs under the hood of your car do not try to open the hood and fight the fire. As the hood goes higher, the heat comes right towards the person. So we strongly recommend against anybody opening the hood. The materials burning under the hood can give off poisonous, noxious gases and there are pressurized liquids, and flammable liquids, all kinds that can be very hazards. Back away from the vehicle and call the fire department.
